Augmented Reality Center

The ARC is a partnership built on collaboration between Oakland University, College for Creative Studies, and some of the leading immersive technology industry companies. This project embodies the intersection of where engineering meets creativity. The physical lab contains several hands on demos that showcase state of the art AR. VR and MR technology in the gaming, manufacturing, health and automotive industries.

Through much research, limitless ideation, collaborative feedback, and industry trends we were inspired to create an atmosphere that inspires a wide demographic of people to engage with immersive technologies while investing in the future generation of technology.

We were inspired by the user experience of AR, we put emphasis on how we look through a lens or into a virtual experience. We’ve created a system of openings within the primary identifiers using positive and negative space. These spaces can hold imagery or video which reflects the physical experience of AR. The secondary elements were inspired by an AR demo sheet of paper that had various tracking points on it. While we are pulling elements of AR digital experiences, we are also continuing to think about how a printed asset or physical space can be augmented with light and shadow while also showcasing the brand.

Our objectives were: To design an engaging visual brand experience for the physical lab and digital platforms. Expanding our thinking to how the brand can live in a three dimensional world while engaging a wide demographic of children, students, educators and industry professionals – encouraging all to invest in a future generation.
